Tile is a “green” product because it is made with natural materials and is long lasting. Tile is also super easy to clean and requires very little maintenance to keep it in good shape.
Below, Jim Aaron explains how to choose the perfect tile for your home.
Types of Tile
We have three main tile options to choose from including: ceramic, porcelain, and stone.
Two of the most common tiles are porcelain and ceramic. Both are made from the same materials, but porcelain is classified by its density. The density of porcelain tile dictates how much moisture it absorbs as well as its durability. You will find both porcelain and ceramic tile in places around the home such as bathrooms, kitchens, and entryways. We also offer stone tile flooring, and since no two slabs are quarried from the same location, each tile features its own distinctive look.
We also carry wall and backsplash tile, which ranges in materials. Wall and backsplash tile are normally smaller in size and come in materials like glass, mosaic, and metal.
To determine the type of tile you need, first you need to know the room you want to install it in. Some tile is denser and can handle wear and moisture better than others. Even the glaze on a tile can determine how stain resistant it is. For bathroom and kitchen tile, choosing something that is dense and slip resistant is definitely a good way to go.
Other places tile can be installed include walls, showers, outdoor patios and walkways, as well as basements and laundry rooms.
